Guoqiang Gao’s primary research focuses on pantograph arcs and electric contact, as well as rail transit high-voltage and insulation technology. He won the Sichuan Outstanding Youth Fund (2018), the National Natural Science Foundation of China Outstanding Youth Fund (2019), and was selected for the Sichuan Provincial Talent Program (2020). He is a prolific author of journal papers and currently holds 26 national invention patents. He has won the First Prize of the China Railway Science and Technology Progress Award, the First Prize of the Sichuan Science and Technology Progress Award, and the Zhan Tianyou Youth Science and Technology Award. He has participated in IEEE standards development activities and the resulting research has been successfully applied to the world's first 400km/h (CIT400) high-speed inspection vehicles and high-speed test trains (500km/h).
