Colin Jones est professeur d’histoire à l’université Queen Mary de Londres. Il a publié de nombreux ouvrages sur l’histoire de la France, en particulier sur le XVIIIe siècle, la Révolution française et l’histoire de la médecine. Parmi ses nombreux ouvrages figurent The Great Nation: France from Louis XV to Napoleon (2002), Paris: Biography of a City (2004, lauréat du prix Enid MacLeod) et The Smile Revolution: In Eighteenth-Century Paris (2014). Il est membre de la British Academy et ancien président de la Royal Historical Society.
