Dr. Carlos Jacinto da Silva received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in physics from the Universidade Federal de Alagoas (UFAL), Alagoas, Brazil, in 2000 and 2002, respectively, and the Ph. D degree from the Instituto de Física de São Carlos, Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil, in 2006. Since August 2006 he has been a professor of the Institute of Physics (IP) at UFAL. His current research interests include: materials for nanoscience and nanotechnology; fluorescence and thermal imaging; developments
