Professor ZHANG Xu holds a Doctor’s Degree of Philosophy from Hong Kong Baptist University. He is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Guangxi Minzu University (GXMZU) and concurrently serves as an Honorary Research Fellow at the Centre for Translation (CTN), Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). Within the broader academic community, he holds significant leadership positions, including Vice President of the China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese (CACSEC) and President of the Association for Studies of Translation History. In recognition of his distinguished scholarly contributions, he is a recipient of the Special Government Allowance from the State Council.
Professor Zhang’s research has received substantial national support, having served as Principal Investigator for four projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC) and one by the National Publication Foundation (NPF). His influence in the field is further demonstrated through his extensive editorial work. He is the Chief Editor of the Babel Series (an international cooperative series), the Series of Chronicles of Translators from Fujian, and the Journal of Translation History, as well as the Executive Chief Editor of the Series of Foreign Language and Cultural Communication Studies.
Extending his expertise to public scholarship, he served as the Academic Advisor for the six-episode documentary Gu Hong-ming (48 min./episode). A prolific scholar, he has authored over 20 academic monographs and published over 100 scholarly papers. His ongoing research continues to receive high acclaim, earning him four provincial and ministerial-level scientific research awards within the last five years.
