Professor Clemens Mensink is a research director of the Environmental Intelligence unit at VITO in Belgium. VITO is an independent Flemish research organization in the area of cleantech and sustainable development with the goal to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world. Clemens received his Ph.D. (1992) and a postgraduate degree (1988) in fluid dynamics from the Von Karman Institute in Belgium. He studied chemical engineering, fluid mechanics and numerical mathematics and received his M.Sc. (1987) in mechanical engineering from University of Twente in the Netherlands. In 1998, he received the ENERO prize. Clemens currently serves as the president of the International Technical Meeting on Air Pollution Modeling and its Applications. He is an expert in air pollution modeling and author of more than 80 peer-reviewed publications in international journals. He is a professor atmospheric modeling at Ghent University in Belgium
Dr. Ulas Im is a senior scientist at the Department of Environmental Sciences in Aarhus University, Denmark. He received his bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering in Yildiz Technical University, Turkey, in 2000, and MSc (2203) and PhD (2009) degrees from Bogazici University, Turkey, in the field of environmental sciences. Dr. Im studies global to regional modelling of atmospheric aerosols and their interactions with clouds, climate, and health. He has more than 70 peer-reviewed publications in international journals. Dr. Im serves as steering committee member of the International Technical Meeting on Air Pollution Modeling and its Applications, and convener of the Air Pollution Modelling session in the European Geophysical Union (EGU).
