Description

The Revenge Porn Helpline was founded in 2015 following the criminalisation of the sharing of intimate images without consent and has received over 75,000 cases. This accessible book uses this significant empirical resource to not only study the nature and evolution of Intimate Image Abuse (IIA) but also to study how victims are supported and how the wider ecosystem around victims responds. It comes from authors who have been involved with the Helpline since before its inception and have been informed the policy and legislative developments discussed in this text. As well as case analysis, it draws on interviews with both practitioners and stakeholders, reflects on the authors’ own experiences in the evolution of the Helpline, and considers how to use technology to tackle technology mediated abuse. This book speaks accessibly to wider audiences including practitioners across the criminal justice and social care sectors and to those who inform policy and legislative developments.
