After completing his studies at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens in Greece, the University of Rostock in Germany, Brown University in the USA, and the University of Melbourne in Australia, Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h.c. Ioannis Mylonas began his training in gynecology and obstetrics at the Women's Clinic of the University of Rostock. In 2002, he earned his doctorate from the Medical Faculty of the University of Rostock with the highest honors and was awarded the Joachim Jungius Prize.
Following his specialist training, he habilitated at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich - Germany in 2008. In 2012, he was appointed professor at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich through an accelerated process. In March 2014, he became one of the youngest physicians and gynecologists in Greece and Germany to receive an honorary doctorate (Dr. h.c.) from Democritus University in Greece.
He has published over 300 scientific articles in national and international journals and authored more than 100 articles in textbooks and clinical guidelines on gynecology, obstetrics, and infectious diseases. Additionally, he has authored or co-edited six books.
Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h.c. Ioannis Mylonas is a member of numerous national and international societies and has participated in various guideline commissions. He has also served as an expert reviewer for national and international journals and institutions.
