Catherine Mayes is Associate Professor of Music at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She specializes in the music and culture of late eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century Europe, with a strong focus on Viennese engagement with Eastern Europe and its music at that time. She is the author of numerous articles and book chapters and co-editor, with Emily H. Green, of Consuming Music: Individuals, Institutions, Communities, 1730-1830.
